Covaris S220 Adaptive Focused Acoustics Workshop and Training

Tuesday, September 30, 2014
Noon4 p.m.

Genomics Building , 1102A
Parking Information

The IIGB Genomics Core has a newly acquired Covaris S220. The technology of AFA allows for reproducible, non-contact, and isothermal random shearing of DNA, RNA, and chromatin without bias or thermal damage. This is the preferred method for Illumina sample preparation. This seminar will provide an overview of AFA and applications for the S220. This will be followed by a training session on the S220.

Hamid Khoja, PhD, Principle Scientist, Covaris Covaris Adaptive Focused Acoustics (AFA): Optimizing DNA, RNA and chromatin shearing for reproducible NGS sample preparation

This workshop will include:

- Overview of AFA technology

- Important applications for the S220 instrument including DNA shearing for DNASeq and ChIPSeq

- S220 instrument training after the seminar
