Keen Hall , 1007 & 1008
Parking Information

I'm squeezing in another Leica SP5 confocal microscopy training session this Thursday 9am to noon.  Training is free but space is limited to six people.  Please contact dcarter@ucr.edu to reserve a space. We will start in Keen Hall room 1007 and conclude with hands-on practice in 1008.

In other news, a second service call will be needed on the SP5 some time this month to replace the 405nm delivery optics.  The 405nm DAPI laser still works, but only at 105 of expected power.  Just turn it up higher until an adequate signal is achieved.

the MCID Elite 2D image analysis workstation is back up and running in room 1015.  The TM-1000 SEM is functioning but suffers frequent drift from alignment.  A new set of filaments may fix this problem, but any user who wants to know how to align please contact dcarter@ucr.edu for help.  Its not difficult to do.

The Dark box is again without a focus light, so crack the door open to find focus.  When there is a problem with an instrument it is important that David Carter is informed as soon as possible, so the instrument will be repaired promptly, and so similar incidents can be avoided.  Last time this part was repaired, it took 6 months for the vendor to source the parts and make the repair, so expect this feature to be down for a while.

Many thanks,
